Early Bronze Age collared urn

Findspot:
Great Wilbraham, Cambridgeshire
Period:
Date:
Early Bronze Age (2350 - 1600 BC)
Material:
Pottery
Dimensions:
H. 8.9cm; Dia. mouth 8.2cm

This vessel is a large pinch pot, but the potter misjudged its proportions. The base is very heavy and the upper walls are too thin, which is why the rim is ragged. The vertical cracks show the clay was over-worked.
